Hi, what is the reason that launchplans cannot be started from the UI?
a
Hi Felix! When you start a workflow from the UI (console), you’re actually always starting the Workflow through a LaunchPlan. You can see which LaunchPlan you’re using in the
LaunchPlan
field (in the image below) after clicking on “Launch Workflow”. Flyte creates a “default” LaunchPlan for you, which has the same name as the workflow (in the below case
flyte.flyte_demo.demo_workflows.flip_image_workflow
) Does this answer your question?

Thanks @agreeable-kitchen-44189 ! I knew that it creates default lauchplans, but missed that I can select a different one and have to go through workflows -> launch -> select different LaunchPlan. Would be nice if I could launch a LaunchPlan directly from the LaunchPlan list...

Felix, I agree - mind filling an issue in flyteconsole? [flyte-ui]

I also want launch plan creation in the UI, what do you folks think?

Also I can't seem to be able to archive lauchplans, at least they are still shown in the UI...

RE ^ I can confirm clicking the "Archive" button in the UI on a launchplan does not stop it from being listed in the launchplans. cc @late-eye-50215 is this intended for some reason?

I also still have flyte console 1.4.0 and don't see an "Archive" button... and according to https://github.com/flyteorg/flyteconsole/releases this was not added... What am I missing?

Archive on launchplan or other entities?
q
On a launchplan, it's there for workflows...
