#6992 [BUG] PyPI metadata is incorrect/outdated Issue created by ndonyapour Flyte & Flytekit version 1.16.4 Describe the bug The
flytekit
package on PyPI has outdated metadata that incorrectly excludes Python 3.13, even though the source code supports it. Current PyPI Metadata •
flytekit
(1.16.14) declares:
requires-python = ">=3.10,<3.13"
• This blocks installation with Python 3.13 in strict dependency resolvers like Poetry Source Code Support •
flyteidl
pyproject.toml shows:
requires-python = ">=3.8,<3.14"
• Source: https://raw.githubusercontent.com/flyteorg/flyte/master/flyteidl/pyproject.toml • This includes Python 3.13 support Impact • Poetry cannot install
flytekit
with Python 3.13 due to strict metadata enforcement • `uv`/`pip` can install it (more lenient), and it works correctly with Python 3.13 • This creates inconsistency and blocks users who rely on Poetry for dependency management Please update the PyPI package metadata to reflect Python 3.13 support, matching what's already in the source code. Expected behavior The PyPI package metadata should match the source code and support Python 3.13. Additional context to reproduce Steps to Reproduce 1. Set up a project with Python 3.13 2. Try to install flytekit with Poetry:
poetry add flytekit
3. Poetry fails with: "flytekit requires Python <3.13,>=3.10" Screenshots No response Are you sure this issue hasn't been raised already? • Yes Have you read the Code of Conduct? • Yes flyteorg/flyte
